About David B. Fuller

David B. Fuller is an Oklahoma family law attorney and former Assistant District Attorney who brings nearly two decades of courtroom experience, and more than three decades of working with children and families, to representing fathers at Dads.Law. He has handled complex, highly contested divorce, custody, guardianship, and protective order matters in courts across Oklahoma, and he joined the firm because he believes children thrive when good fathers remain present, engaged, and empowered to stay in their children’s lives.

David earned his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Northeastern State University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas School of Law. He is licensed to practice in Oklahoma (Oklahoma Bar Association #32207).

A prosecutor’s courtroom experience

Before joining Dads.Law, David served as an Assistant District Attorney, where he managed dockets involving more than 150 cases and regularly appeared in juvenile, deprived, and family-related proceedings. That work gave him a working knowledge of the deprived-child system that most family lawyers see only from the outside: how DHS builds a case, how the district attorney evaluates a deprived petition, what a judge needs to hear at an emergency custody hearing, and how to move a case toward reunification or a permanent placement with a fit parent. For fathers facing a DHS investigation, a guardianship filed by a relative, or a protective order tied to a custody dispute, that experience is the difference between reacting to the process and anticipating it.

Decades with children and families

What sets David apart from most attorneys is the career he had before and alongside the law. He spent more than twenty years in education and administration, working directly with children and families throughout Oklahoma, service that earned him recognition as Teacher of the Year for the 2018–2019 school year. He has sat across the table from parents in every kind of family situation, seen what instability does to a child’s schoolwork and behavior, and seen firsthand what it means for a child when both parents are actively involved. That perspective informs how he evaluates a parenting plan, how he prepares a father to testify, and how he talks with fathers about what their children need from them during litigation.

What David handles

David represents fathers in contested divorce and custody cases, custody and visitation modifications, guardianship proceedings (both defending a father against a guardianship sought by a relative and helping a father end one once the conditions that led to it no longer exist and ending it would not harm the child, which is the standard Oklahoma courts apply), DHS investigations and deprived proceedings, and protective order defense. He is a trial lawyer by temperament and training; his high-volume prosecutorial docket sharpened the advocacy skills he now uses to fight for fathers, and he prepares every case for the courtroom while looking for the resolution that serves the child.
